Having previously secured 24 players—including 18 retained from their previous campaign—the Dhaka-based giants have now bolstered their ranks by officially adding five more high-profile names to their roster. In a massive statement of intent, four of these newly signed players arrive directly from reigning league champions Bashundhara Kings, signaling a fierce competitive edge ahead of the new fixtures.
The latest influx of talent features seasoned national team defender Saad Uddin, dynamic forward Faisal Ahmed Fahim, promising midfielder Sohel Rana Junior, and versatile forward Shahriyar Emon, all of whom crossed over from the Kings. Additionally, the club has successfully re-signed centre-back Shakil Ahad Topu, who anchored their defensive line during the previous season. All five players boast substantial international experience, with Saad, Fahim, and Topu regularly featuring in the starting line-up for the national side.
Speaking to our representative at the club premises in Motijheel, Mohammedan Director of Sports Mostakur Rahman articulated the club’s ultimate ambition for the upcoming term. He stated that the management’s singular focus is to clinch the championship title, which has necessitated the creation of an expansive and competitive squad. Confirming the latest acquisitions, Rahman noted that these signings bring their confirmed player count to an impressive 29. When local media reached out to defender Saad Uddin for comment, he briefly acknowledged his move to the historic black-and-whites but declined to offer further details at this stage.
Beyond bolstering their domestic contingent, Mohammedan is also restructuring its foreign quota to match its championship aspirations. Rahman revealed that midfielder Muzaffarov of Uzbekistan is the sole foreign player retained from the previous squad. To fill the remaining three foreign positions with top-tier talent, the club is dispatching a dedicated delegation to Uzbekistan to scout potential signings. Furthermore, the management is exploring managerial options from Central Asia alongside ongoing discussions with former Australian head coach Sean Lane.
