Cristiano Ronaldo, known as ‘CR7’ in the football world, recently sat down for another candid interview with British journalist Piers Morgan. Following their explosive conversation in 2022, Ronaldo once again opened up about his career, goals, retirement plans, and his passion for football. The first part of this two-part interview was released recently, with Ronaldo offering his thoughts on winning the World Cup and what it truly means to be regarded as the greatest footballer in history.
During the interview, Ronaldo was asked if winning the World Cup automatically makes someone the greatest player ever. He responded, “Does winning the World Cup really make someone the greatest in history? I don’t think so. Even if you win the World Cup, I don’t believe it should automatically make you the best. Football is a long journey, and many different factors contribute to being considered the best player.”
Ronaldo also reflected on becoming the first football billionaire, saying, “It was something I knew would happen. It was just a matter of time. Honestly, I was absolutely delighted. It felt like winning a Golden Ball, because it was a personal achievement. Alongside football trophies, Champions League titles, and the Golden Ball, this was one of my life’s biggest goals, both financially and professionally.”
When discussing retirement, Ronaldo stated, “I’ll retire soon. I think I’ll be ready for it. It will undoubtedly be difficult. Yes, it will be tough. I might even cry.”
Ronaldo also spoke about life beyond football, saying, “I don’t think anything compares to football. The thrill and excitement I feel when scoring a goal – nothing can match that.”
Regarding Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League, Ronaldo said, “It’s possible. I think the level of teams in the Premier League is fairly even. Manchester United won’t win the league, as they’re too far behind at the moment. Is it possible? Yes, but I don’t think it will happen. Arsenal might be the team to do it.”
Ronaldo expressed disappointment at Manchester United’s current situation, stating, “It’s sad for me because this is one of the world’s most important clubs. This club will always be close to my heart. Right now, Manchester United lacks a proper structure, but I hope that changes in the future. The club has tremendous potential, and to build a strong foundation for the future, they need to work with intelligent and capable people.”
When asked about his favourite players, Ronaldo replied, “I don’t really have a specific favourite. For example, I watch Brazil because they have so many great players – Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká. Yes, I also watch Argentina because of their players. I don’t watch football for one particular player.”
On his wealth, Ronaldo said, “I’m not 100% sure of my exact wealth, but yes, I do need to keep track of my finances. It’s only natural.”
He was also asked about his most expensive purchase, to which he responded, “It’s a private jet, a Global Express.”
When it comes to cars, Ronaldo said, “I don’t really keep track of how many cars I have. It must be between 50 and 60. If you were to bet on it, I’d say I don’t know. Among my cars, I particularly like the Bugatti.”
On his wedding plans, Ronaldo revealed, “Not yet. We plan to do it after the World Cup, once we’ve won the trophy.”
Talking about Donald Trump, Ronaldo said, “He’s someone who could change the world or help make a change.”
Finally, when discussing the World Cup, Ronaldo remarked, “No, it’s not a dream for me. What does it define? Does winning one competition make me one of the greatest players in history? Winning six or seven matches? Is that really fair?”
Through this exclusive interview, Ronaldo has shared his personal thoughts, future plans, and deep love for football, which is sure to ignite further discussions across the football world.
