Bangladesh women’s cricket has recently been rocked by controversy. Fast bowler Jahanara Alam sparked debates with an interview in which she raised serious allegations against current captain Nigar Sultana Jyoti and former selector/team manager Manjurul Islam Monju. Since the interview’s release, several past and present players have spoken out on the issue.
Now, Jyoti has responded directly to Jahanara’s claims. She stated, “Jahanara spends a lot of time with Monty, another senior player. They train, eat, and travel together. We have always known them as very good friends, almost like family. There is no question about their relationship.”
However, Jyoti emphasised that personal issues being publicised have the potential to damage the team’s reputation. She said, “Jahanara’s comments risk disrespecting the women’s team. Acting out of personal interests and sharing misleading stories is unacceptable. Our families know our characters, but the public might form the wrong impression.”
Jyoti’s remarks make it clear that the team values both respect and professionalism. She warned that failing to maintain mutual respect among members could negatively affect the team’s morale and performance.
