The Bangladesh Women’s Kabaddi Team secured their second consecutive victory in the 2023 Kabaddi World Cup, thrashing Germany 57-27 in their second match. After defeating Uganda in their opening game, the team’s dominant performance over Germany further boosted their confidence ahead of tougher challenges. The match took place at the Shaheed Sohrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on November 18.
Bangladesh, starting with bonus points, completely dominated the match from the outset. In just five minutes, they managed to all-out Germany, setting the tone for the rest of the game. By the 12th minute, the team had already all-out Germany twice, and went into the break with a 19-point lead.
In the second half, Germany tried to mount a counterattack but found themselves outclassed by the resilient Bangladesh side. Bangladesh continued their dominance, sending the German team to the all-out line twice more and sealing the match with a comfortable 57-27 victory.
Now, the Bangladesh Women’s Kabaddi Team will face their next major challenge: India, the defending champions of the World Cup. Bangladesh captain Rupali Akter expressed optimism ahead of the match, saying, “Every team comes to the World Cup with the intent to perform well. Germany tried their best, but our goal was to win and gain confidence for the India match. We’ve achieved that.”

While India remains the stronger team on paper, Bangladesh is ready to take them on. Akter shared her thoughts on the upcoming challenge, saying, “India is the strongest team in the tournament, but after two consecutive wins, our confidence and morale have increased significantly. We’ll do our best to give them a tough challenge.”
