Bangladesh End Day 3 Dominantly: 367 Runs Ahead of Ireland

Bangladesh continued their dominance in the Mirpur Test, ending Day 3 with a commanding lead of 367 runs over Ireland. In their second innings, Bangladesh reached 156/1 at stumps, building on the first innings lead of 211 runs.

Openers Mahmudul Hasan and Sadman Islam provided an excellent start. Mahmudul scored 60 runs off 91 balls, hitting 6 boundaries before being dismissed, while Sadman remained unbeaten on 50, reaching his half-century. Mominul Haque joined the crease and struck two boundaries in the 36th over, pushing the team’s lead past 350 runs.

Ireland’s first innings was largely undone by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who took four crucial wickets for 76 runs, including a double strike immediately after play resumed following a brief three-minute earthquake delay. Khaled Ahmed and Hasan Murad took two wickets each, restricting Ireland to 265 in their first innings.

The Bangladesh openers’ partnership has laid a solid foundation for the team’s second innings. Mahmudul’s fifty marked his fifth career Test fifty, while Sadman reached his eighth.

Ireland managed 167 runs for their last five wickets across 50.3 overs, but the effort wasn’t enough to challenge Bangladesh’s superior position. The Tigers’ second innings start has ensured that Bangladesh remains firmly in control.

On Day 4, Sadman and Mominul will resume the innings, looking to consolidate and extend the lead. With a 367-run advantage, Bangladesh is in a commanding position and has effectively eliminated any threat of a follow-on. The Tigers’ batting form and confidence set the stage for a dominant finish in this Test.
