Glenn Maxwell Returns to Australia’s T20 Line-up

Australia has clinched the ODI series against India with one game still to play. Ahead of the final ODI and the upcoming five-match T20 series, the selectors have announced several changes to the squad.

All-rounder Glenn Maxwell has made his comeback to the Australian side after a lengthy break. The star cricketer, who injured his wrist during a training session before the New Zealand tour last September, has now recovered and will feature in the last three T20 matches against India.

Pacer Ben Dwarshuis, sidelined with a calf injury, will miss the ODI series and the first three T20s but is expected to rejoin the squad for the final two games. Josh Philippe also makes his return to the team as a wicketkeeper-batsman. One of the most exciting additions to the T20 squad is Mahli Beardman, a 20-year-old fast bowler who has been in remarkable form.

Beardman, a former Australia Under-19 player, has been impressive in domestic cricket, taking 12 wickets in four matches for Western Australia with an economy rate of 5.75. His recent performances have positioned him as one of the brightest emerging fast-bowling talents in the country.

Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Hazlewood, and Sean Abbott will skip the white-ball matches to prepare for the Ashes series beginning November 21. They have been released to play red-ball games for their state teams.

Labuschagne is set to represent Queensland in the Sheffield Shield clash against New South Wales at the Gabba. Hazlewood and Abbott will also return to red-ball cricket, turning out for New South Wales against Victoria. Hazlewood will play the first two T20s, while Abbott — who has just recovered from a hand injury — will leave after the third game in Hobart.

Changes have also been made for the final ODI. Jack Edwards, an all-rounder from New South Wales, earns his maiden ODI call-up. Left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann returns after missing the second match in Adelaide, and Josh Inglis rejoins the squad following recovery from a calf injury.
