Argentina’s 2026 World Cup Jersey Unveiled — Here’s How It Looks and What It Costs

Sportswear giant Adidas has officially unveiled new national team kits for 22 countries ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring both teams that have already qualified and those still in contention. Among the newly revealed kits is that of the reigning world champions, Argentina, who will don their fresh design under Lionel Scaloni’s management during the upcoming tournament.

According to Argentine media outlet TyC Sports, the new design reflects “a tribute to history, innovation, and past glory.” Adidas unveiled the jerseys on Wednesday, showcasing their latest approach to blending tradition with modern craftsmanship.

The three-time World Cup winners unsurprisingly retain their iconic three stars above the crest, symbolising their triumphs in 1978, 1986, and 2022. The traditional vertical stripes feature three different shades of sky blue, inspired by the kits worn during those historic victories. On the back of the neck, the number “1893” is embossed — marking the year the Argentine Football Association (AFA) was founded. The gold patch on the chest signifies Argentina’s latest World Cup triumph in Qatar 2022.

Argentina will debut the new kit in a friendly match against Angola on 14 November, with kick-off scheduled for 10 p.m. Bangladesh time.

The official launch campaign was fronted by none other than Lionel Messi, who served as the lead model for the new kit. Fans can now purchase the shirt through Adidas’ website and select retail outlets. The jersey is priced between $100 and $180 (approximately Tk12,000–Tk22,000), depending on the version.

Adidas also released new kits for other major football nations, including Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and Colombia. The brand described the collection as a “fusion of heritage and modernity,” reflecting each nation’s unique identity while honouring its footballing legacy.

Thomas Maas, Vice President of Football Design at Adidas, stated:

“Designing the 2026 World Cup jerseys was about respecting each nation’s heritage while pushing the boundaries of innovation. Every shirt tells its own story — one of pride, progress, and passion.”

All jerseys share core design elements such as the enlarged Adidas logo and the signature three stripes, but each carries distinct national motifs. The details draw inspiration from flags, colours, footballing traditions, and even geographical patterns unique to each country.

In a significant development, this will mark the final Adidas kit for Germany, concluding a 70-year partnership between the two giants. From 2027 onwards, the four-time world champions will switch to Nike as their official kit supplier.

The countries whose new jerseys were revealed are: Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, and Wales.

With its sleek design, symbolic detailing, and historical reverence, Argentina’s 2026 World Cup jersey stands as a perfect blend of tradition, technology, and triumph — a fitting emblem for the defending champions.
