Bangladesh Announce Asia Cup Squad, Akbar to Lead

The Bangladesh national team, along with age-group cricketers, is busy with a packed schedule in both domestic and international cricket. While the national team’s recent series has concluded, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) is currently hosting four-day first-class cricket matches. In just a couple of days, Bangladesh, led by Akbar Ali, will travel to Hong Kong for the Sixeside Tournament.

Later this month, the Asia Cup for Emerging Players will be held, with the inclusion of promising cricketer Zawad Abrar. Another surprise inclusion is Under-19 leg-spinner, Swadhin Islam. Mehreb Hossain Ahin has also earned a call-up. Akbar Ali will captain the squad.

The Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship will take place in Doha, Qatar, from 12th to 25th November. This year’s tournament will feature 8 teams, and from 2024, the Emerging Asia Cup is expected to be regarded as an official ‘A’ team event.
