In the last two editions of the BPL, Fortune Barishal dominated both on and off the field. Alongside national team stars, foreign players also brought excitement to the team. They also drew strong support from fans. However, Fortune Barishal will not be seen in the next BPL season. Akabari Holidays has expressed interest in taking over the ownership of Barishal. The company’s assistant manager, Kamal Talukdar, stated that they want national team opener Tamim Iqbal in their squad.
Tamim played for Fortune Barishal in the last two BPL seasons, and the team won the championship both times. In the 2023 BPL, he scored 492 runs and was named the tournament’s best player. He continued his consistent performance in the next season, scoring 413 runs.
If Akabari Holidays acquires Barishal’s ownership, they plan to get in touch with Tamim. If he agrees, they are eager to include him in the team.
On this matter, Kamal Talukdar said, “Yes, you’re right, it’s about Tamim Iqbal. He is the captain of a BPL champion team. We will definitely reach out to him. If he is willing to play, we will make every effort to include him in the squad.”
Once all formalities are completed, they plan to build a star-studded team for the upcoming BPL, similar to Fortune Barishal. Kamal expressed a desire to bring surprises in both the players and coaching panel. He said, “If we get the team, Inshallah, you will see the surprises. There will be excitement through the players and coaching staff. We will structure the team with a balance of local and foreign players. You will also see quality foreign players. We will bring star players from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. I can assure you, our team will have top players.”
