Four Players Share the Lead in Walton International Rating Chess

DHAKA, 18 March 2025 (BSS) – Following the completion of the fourth round in the Independence Day Walton International Rating Chess Competition, four players have secured the top position in the points table with a perfect four points each. The tournament, being held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation, saw intense competition on Tuesday.

The four joint leaders are International Master (IM) Md. Minhaj Uddin, FIDE Master (FM) Subrata Biswas, Candidate Master (CM) Md. Shariatullah, and Ryan Rashid.

Meanwhile, four other players are closely trailing in second place with 3.5 points each. They are IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FM Khandaker Aminul Islam, and Sornavo Chowdhury.

In the fourth round matches, IM Md. Minhaj Uddin secured victory over FM Md. Sharif Hossain, while FM Subrata Biswas triumphed over Female Candidate Master Warsia Khushbu. Ryan Rashid defeated Mughdah Anat Chowdhury, and CM Md. Shariatullah overcame FM Md. Javed.

In other matches, IM Abu Sufian Shakil claimed a win against Md. Nasir Uddin, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed defeated Mohammad Shakil, FM Khandaker Aminul Islam outplayed CM Md. Jamal Uddin, and Sornavo Chowdhury emerged victorious against Female Candidate Master Waliza Ahmed.
