How Much Will the Women’s World Cup Champion Receive, and How Much Did Seventh-Placed Bangladesh Earn?

The 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, which began on 30 September, comes to an end today. Hosts India and South Africa will battle for the coveted trophy at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. For both sides, it represents a chance to claim the world title for the very first time. Alongside the trophy, however, there is also a substantial financial incentive on offer.

Whichever team wins the World Cup—India or South Africa—will receive USD 4.48 million, equivalent to approximately BDT 55 crore. The runner-up will earn exactly half that amount—USD 2.24 million. While the final result will determine the ultimate prize allocations between the two finalists, the prize money for the remaining six teams has already been finalised.

This year, the ICC has set a record total prize pool of USD 13.88 million for the Women’s World Cup—an enormous increase from the USD 3.5 million awarded during the 2022 tournament in New Zealand. Interestingly, even the men’s World Cup in 2023, held in India, had a smaller total prize pool of just USD 10 million.

Due to this record-breaking allocation, the payouts for each team have also increased significantly. The prize money has been divided into three main categories: participation, tournament position, and number of wins. The participation award is equal for every team, meaning Bangladesh receives the same amount as the eventual champion. From this category, Bangladesh will receive USD 250,000.

In terms of tournament position, the champion and runner-up will take home USD 4.48 million and USD 2.24 million, respectively. Among the remaining six teams, the two semi-finalists will receive USD 1.12 million each, the teams finishing fifth and sixth will receive USD 700,000 each, while those finishing seventh and eighth—Bangladesh among them—will receive USD 280,000 each. Bangladesh, having earned three points in the group stage, finished seventh overall, thereby securing USD 280,000 for its tournament position.

The third category is based on the number of wins. Bangladesh won one of their seven matches—against Pakistan—and has earned an additional USD 34,314 from that victory.

Altogether, Bangladesh’s total earnings from the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup amount to USD 564,314—comprising USD 250,000 for participation, USD 280,000 for their seventh-place finish, and USD 34,314 for their single win. At the current exchange rate (USD 1 = BDT 122.32), this translates to approximately BDT 6.9 crore.
