Lahore Qalandars, the reigning champions and three-time PSL winners, have officially renewed their franchise ownership for the next ten years. Owners Sameen Rana and Atif Rana announced the decision through a media release, ending speculation over the future of one of the league’s most valuable teams.
An independent valuation by EY-MENA, tasked with assessing the financial worth of each PSL franchise, estimated the Qalandars’ value at approximately PKR 980 million ($3.47 million) per year. However, under the new agreement, the current owners will not pay the full value. Instead, they will pay the old franchise price of PKR 425 million ($1.5 million) plus 25% of the new valuation, amounting to around PKR 670 million ($2.37 million) annually. This structure saves the Ranas approximately PKR 300 million ($1.06 million) per year compared to a new owner.
The franchise said in a statement: “The Qalandars have accepted the PCB’s renewal offer and will continue as a PSL team for the next ten years. Following an independent valuation, Lahore Qalandars have been recognized as the most valuable team based on on-field performance and organisational strength. This reflects our commitment to sustainable growth and long-term development.”
