Kylian Mbappé is in outstanding form this season. The French star has been making crucial contributions in every match for Real Madrid. In recognition of his performances, he has won the European Golden Boot for the first time in his career.
On Friday (October 31), Mbappé received the award at a ceremony held at Santiago Bernabéu. The event was attended by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, coach Xabi Alonso, and all the team players.
After winning the award, Mbappé said, “Winning the Golden Boot brings me great joy. This is an important moment in my career. As a forward, it holds tremendous value for me.” He added, “It would not have been possible without these players. I want to thank the club, doctors, and staff who have supported me both on and off the field. I hope to win it again next year. I have started this season well.”
The European Sports Media awards this prize to the top scorer among Europe’s leading leagues. Mbappé won it for the 2024-25 season. In his debut season for Real Madrid, he scored 31 goals in La Liga.
The winner is determined based on points. Mbappé earned 62 points. Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres came second with 58.5 points, and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah came third with 58 points.
Mbappé became the third Real Madrid player to win this award. Before him, Cristiano Ronaldo won it in the 2014-15 season and has received the honor four times in his career. Lionel Messi holds the record, having won it six times.
The previous winners were Harry Kane and, before him, Erling Haaland. Robert Lewandowski had won it in two consecutive seasons prior to them.
This season, Mbappé is the top scorer in La Liga with 11 goals in 10 matches. No other player has scored more. Real Madrid is also at the top of the league table. Across all competitions, they have won 12 of their 13 matches.
