The excitement surrounding the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has been building for some time, and today the names of the five participating teams were officially revealed. Among them is a new team, Sylhet, which has now adopted the name “Sylhet Titans.” The team has already started making some key signings.
Among the new additions to the team are all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. In an exciting development, Miraz has been appointed as the captain of the team. This confirmation came from a trusted source within the team, who spoke exclusively to Dhaka Post.
In addition to the player signings, it has been confirmed that Sylhet’s pace bowling coach will be a local coach. The team has also finalised its director of the team. Furthe rmore, the team is set to appoint a foreign head coach, according to sources close to the franchise.
It is worth noting that, following the BPL Governing Council meeting held at the Navana Tower in Gulshan last Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) finalised the ownerships of the franchise teams. The Bashundhara Group’s Togi Sports secured ownership of the Rangpur Riders, while Triangle Services was awarded the Chittagong franchise. Additionally, Nabil Group acquired the Rajshahi franchise, Cricket with Sami gained ownership of the Sylhet franchise, and Champion Sports (a consortium involving Rimark-Harland) took control of the Dhaka franchise.
This marks an exciting new chapter for the BPL, with new teams and changes in leadership creating plenty of anticipation for the upcoming season.
