Mustafizur Among Highest Base Price Picks in IPL Mini Auction, Shakib Also Listed

Over a thousand players have registered for the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini auction, scheduled to take place on 16 December in Abu Dhabi. Among them are Bangladesh’s star cricketers, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, who are expected to attract significant attention from franchises.

According to reports from Cricbuzz, Shakib, who has played nine IPL seasons, has a base price of INR 1 crore. Mustafizur, categorised among the top overseas players, carries a base price of INR 2 crore, highlighting his value as one of the premier fast bowlers available.

A total of 1,355 players will be part of the one-day mini auction. The registration list spans 13 pages and features top cricketers from England, Australia, and South Africa. Among the high-profile international players are Australia’s Cameron Green, Matthew Short, and Steve Smith. Josh Inglis has also registered, though his participation remains uncertain due to personal commitments. The list also includes England’s Jamie Smith and Jonny Bairstow, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana.

Interestingly, Glenn Maxwell, who was released by Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2025, is not included on the list.

Among Indian players, the top names include Mayank Agarwal, K.S. Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier, and Umesh Yadav. Only two Indians—Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer—have a base price of INR 2 crore.

Mustafizur joins 43 overseas players at this top-tier price bracket, including Cameron Green, Steve Smith, Jamie Smith, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Cooper Conolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Inglis, Gas Atkinson, Tom Banton, Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Daniel Lawrence, Liam Livingstone, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, Enrique Noriega, Pathirana, Mahesh Thikshana, and Wanindu Hasaranga.

Following the retention process that concluded on 15 November, all ten IPL franchises will have the opportunity to spend a combined total of INR 237.55 crore in this auction. Players from 14 countries are expected to feature in the upcoming event.
