Neymar Apologises After Angry Reaction in Flamengo Defeat

The drama surrounding Neymar continues amid the ongoing turbulence in Brazilian football. During a 3–0 defeat to Flamengo, Neymar became visibly frustrated after being substituted, showing his displeasure as he left the pitch. However, after the match, the Brazilian forward personally acknowledged that his behaviour was inappropriate.

According to Globo Esporte, Neymar contacted Santos’ Argentine coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda to clarify the situation. The forward explained that his reaction was not aimed at the coach’s substitution decision but was a response to several controversial calls by referee Savio Pereira. Neymar reassured Vojvoda that he had no objection to being substituted.

Although he did not explicitly say “sorry,” Neymar admitted that his behaviour was wrong. Sources within Santos have confirmed that the club now considers the matter resolved following their discussion. During the call, Neymar also praised the coach, highlighting the team’s recent improvement under Vojvoda.

Currently, Santos remain in the relegation zone, two points shy of safety. Their upcoming match against Palmeiras this Saturday could see Neymar’s performance determine the team’s fate. He did not train with the squad on Tuesday as a precaution.

Meanwhile, Neymar’s relationship with supporters remains strained. After a disappointing season, regaining fans’ trust and proving himself on the pitch are his greatest challenges. Amid pressure, controversy, and high expectations, Neymar’s recent self-reflection may bring a sense of calm to Santos—provided it translates into his on-field performance.
