Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium is set to host the second Test of the two-match series between Bangladesh and Ireland, beginning tomorrow. The fixture carries special significance as Bangladesh’s celebrated batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will achieve a historic milestone, becoming the first Bangladeshi cricketer to play his 100th Test match.
To mark this memorable occasion, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that teachers and students from schools, colleges, universities, and madrasas will be able to attend the match free of charge. Attendees can enter through Gate 5 of the stadium by presenting a valid student or teacher ID card. They will be seated in the upper gallery of the Shahid Mushthak Stand, enjoying the match without the need to purchase a ticket.
This arrangement will be valid for all five days of the Test, allowing teachers and students to witness the entire match live. The BCB has emphasised that general stadium regulations will still apply: spectators will not be permitted to bring outside food, bags, water bottles, or any prohibited items.
Bangladesh’s victory in the first Test of the series in Sylhet, where they defeated Ireland by an innings and 47 runs, has heightened anticipation for the second match. The free access initiative is expected not only to give students and teachers a chance to enjoy cricket firsthand but also to inspire a younger generation and strengthen their connection to the sport. The presence of fans in the stands during Mushfiqur Rahim’s milestone match will add to the atmosphere and make this historic occasion even more memorable.
