Implementing such an extended break presents a unique administrative challenge for organisers. According to the regulations set by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) – the body responsible for the laws of the game – the half-time interval must not exceed 15 minutes.
To bypass this restriction, FIFA officials are evaluating two distinct strategies. The first involves formally extending the half-time period to roughly 20 minutes.
