Sanjoy Dev to Headline TECNO SAFF Championship Opening Ceremony
Bangladeshi-American DJ and music producer Sanjoy Dev is set to return to Bangladesh after attracting international attention with his recent performance on the FIFA World Cup stage. He will perform as a special guest at the opening ceremony of the TECNO SAFF Championship Bangladesh on 5 November.
The announcement was made in a press release issued by TECNO on Thursday. According to the statement, Sanjoy confirmed his participation through a special video message, expressing his excitement about travelling to Bangladesh and performing before an audience in his ancestral homeland.
Sanjoy recently came into the spotlight after performing ‘Sir Sir’ on the FIFA World Cup stage. His appearance also carried a strong personal message about his Bangladeshi heritage. He wore a specially designed jacket featuring an image of the Royal Bengal Tiger, using the occasion to highlight his connection with Bangladesh before an international audience.
Speaking about his upcoming performance, Sanjoy described his appearance at the FIFA World Cup as a particularly special moment in his career. However, he said performing in front of people from his own country would be an entirely different experience.
He expressed his eagerness to share the excitement and joy of the TECNO SAFF Championship with the Bangladeshi audience. Sanjoy also thanked TECNO for providing him with the opportunity to return to Bangladesh and take part in the opening celebrations.
Rezwanul Haque, Chief Executive Officer of iSmartU Technology BD Limited, representing TECNO Bangladesh, also welcomed the musician’s participation. He said Sanjoy had maintained his connection with his Bangladeshi roots while taking his music to the international stage.
Haque said the company was delighted to bring the artist to Bangladesh for the regional football tournament. He highlighted the ability of both football and music to unite people across geographical boundaries, bringing together audiences through shared passion and enthusiasm.
He added that TECNO wanted the opening night to offer spectators an atmosphere filled with excitement, entertainment and memorable experiences that would stay with them long after the event.
The TECNO SAFF Championship Bangladesh is scheduled to run from 5 to 17 November, with national football teams from different South Asian countries taking part. The tournament will provide a platform for regional sides to compete, while the opening ceremony is expected to combine sporting enthusiasm with musical entertainment.
Sanjoy’s participation adds an international dimension to the celebrations. His appearance is also significant as an opportunity to reconnect with the country of his heritage through music, following his recent performance on one of football’s most prominent global stages.
The organisers hope the combination of regional football and a high-profile musical performance will make the opening ceremony an engaging experience for spectators and give the championship a lively start.
