Bangladesh ‘A’ team departed Dhaka on Wednesday (12 November) for the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship in Qatar. However, three players—Yasir Ali Rabbi, Mahidul Islam Ankon, and Mrityunjoy Chowdhury—could not travel with the team due to visa complications. It is expected that they will fly to Qatar on Thursday (13 November).
The tournament will take place in Doha from 12 to 25 November, featuring a total of eight teams. Previously known as the Emerging Asia Cup, this List ‘A’ level competition has been rebranded as the Rising Stars Championship.
The groups and participating teams are as follows:
| Group | Teams |
|---|---|
| A | Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Hong Kong |
| B | Pakistan, India, UAE, Oman |
Bangladesh ‘A’ squad includes: Zisan Alam, Habibur Rahman Sohan, Jawad Abrar, Ariful Islam, captain Akbar Ali, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Mahidul Islam Bhuiya, Rakibul Hasan, S M Meherab Hossain, Abu Haidar Rony, Tofayel Ahmed, Swadhin Islam, Ripon Mondal, Abdul Gaffar Saklain, and Mrityunjoy Chowdhury.
The absence of these three players could affect Bangladesh’s strategy in the opening match. Once visa issues are resolved, they are expected to join the squad for subsequent fixtures.
