Cristiano Ronaldo to Marry in Historic Cathedral in His Hometown

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has set a wedding date with his long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez, planning to officially make her his life partner after next year’s World Cup. The couple has already finalised the venues for both the wedding ceremony and the post-wedding celebration.

According to Portuguese daily Jornal da Madeira, Ronaldo will return to his birthplace, Madeira, to hold the main ceremony at the historic Cathedral of Funchal. Built in 1514, this cathedral is Madeira’s oldest and most symbolic religious structure. Constructed from local cedar wood, it is considered the spiritual heart of the island. Notably, Ronaldo was born just two miles from the cathedral, making the location profoundly personal.

Ronaldo’s ties with Madeira run deep. The island’s international airport is named after him, and his museum is located there. His childhood football club, Nacional da Madeira, is also nearby, emphasizing his lifelong connection to the region.

After the religious ceremony, a luxurious post-wedding reception will be held at a high-end hotel on the island. Guests will include stars from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and other corners of the globe.

Ronaldo has said that his children encouraged him to take this step. He shares two daughters with Georgina—Alana and Bella—along with three other children: Cristiano Jr., Mateo, and Eva Maria.

The couple first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, and their relationship grew stronger through stints at Real Madrid, Juventus, Manchester United, and finally Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Georgina has established herself as a model, entrepreneur, and digital icon, with a global influence.
