Despite his club, Real Madrid, not achieving overwhelming team success, Mbappé has consistently delivered on the scoresheet. Across club and national duties, he has already scored 60 goals this year. Within this total, 53 goals have come in 54 appearances for Real Madrid, including 23 in the current season, accounting for 56% of the club’s 41 goals so far. For France, he has added seven international strikes to his tally in 2025.
Looking ahead, Mbappé still has opportunities to extend his goal haul. With five more club matches scheduled before the end of the year, scoring seven more goals would see him reach 60 goals, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s 59-goal mark in the 21st century for a single calendar year at club level, moving Mbappé into second place behind Lionel Messi.
Surpassing Messi’s record of 79 club goals in a single calendar year, however, remains a near-impossible challenge; he would need 27 goals in just five games. Yet overtaking Ronaldo would be a remarkable achievement in itself. Among his contemporaries, Harry Kane trails by 11 goals with 42, while Erling Haaland has 48 goals combining club and country.
Only a handful of players in the 21st century have scored 60 or more goals in a calendar year for club and country—Messi, Ronaldo, and Robert Lewandowski. With five matches remaining, Mbappé now joins this elite company, with a chance to climb even higher on the all-time list.
