A Fifty Means Nothing If the Match Is Lost

Shahriar Tanzeed Hasan Tamim scored his first fifty of the current series. Despite his 61 runs off 48 balls, Bangladesh fell short while chasing a target of 150, losing the match by 14 runs. Tamim has taken responsibility for the defeat on his own shoulders.

He said, “A fifty means nothing if the team doesn’t win. The wicket was as it was, and it was up to the batters to see it through. I had the responsibility, but in the end, I couldn’t fulfil it.”

He added, “The wicket was a bit sticky, making it difficult for the new batters to hit effectively. They also got out trying. If I had been able to carry out my responsibility till the end, we could have won the match easily.”

However, he did not blame the wicket for failing to chase 150. Tamim stated, “Regardless of the wicket, 150 was certainly chaseable. This was a failure on the part of our batters. It’s up to us to figure out how to bounce back from such situations.”
