Hakimi Hat-Trick Leads PSG to Emphatic 5-1 Victory
Despite starting with a relatively second-string line-up, the French champions showed their attacking strength and squad depth. Le Havre initially took advantage of playing at home, but could not maintain their early momentum as PSG gradually took control of the contest.
The hosts made a promising start, opening the scoring in the 18th minute through Josh Maja. His goal gave Le Havre a 1-0 lead and raised hopes of a positive result in front of their home supporters. However, their advantage proved short-lived.
PSG restored parity in the 26th minute through Belgian winger Mika Godts. Hakimi delivered an accurate pass into the penalty area, allowing Godts to break through on goal and find himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The winger kept his composure and calmly guided the ball into the net to make it 1-1.
Just two minutes later, PSG completed the turnaround. In the 28th minute, Hakimi collected a pass from Senny Mayulu before producing an excellent finish from a difficult angle on the right side of the penalty area. His strike put the visitors 2-1 ahead and gave them control heading into the interval.
The Moroccan international continued to influence proceedings after the restart. In the 55th minute, he scored his second goal of the match with a superb curling effort from outside the penalty area. The quality of the strike left the Le Havre defence struggling to respond, extending PSG’s advantage to 3-1.
Hakimi then turned provider once again. In the 62nd minute, he set up Mayulu, who converted the opportunity to make it 4-1. The PSG captain demonstrated his attacking versatility, contributing not only through his own finishing but also by creating opportunities for his team-mates.
The defining moment arrived in the 69th minute, when Hakimi completed his hat-trick. It was the first treble of his professional career, making the occasion particularly memorable for the Moroccan defender. With three goals and two assists, he had been directly involved in every PSG goal.
There were no further goals in the closing stages, as PSG comfortably saw out the match to claim a 5-1 victory. The result underlined the team’s ability to respond to difficult situations, even when competing away from home and without their strongest available line-up.
The victory also extended PSG’s winning streak to nine matches across all competitions, maintaining their strong run of form. Their position in the Ligue 1 standings improved further, with the Parisian club reaching 20 points after nine league matches.
Lille remain second with 18 points from the same number of games, leaving PSG two points clear at the top.
For Hakimi, the match represented a significant personal milestone. Primarily recognised for his defensive responsibilities at right-back, he once again demonstrated how effectively he can contribute in the attacking third. His combination of pace, movement, finishing and creativity made him the decisive figure in PSG’s commanding performance.
The result also highlighted the depth within the PSG squad. Even with a relatively inexperienced selection, the French champions were able to recover from an early deficit, dominate the scoring and strengthen their position in the domestic title race.
