Hamza Choudhury arrived in Dhaka this afternoon ahead of Bangladesh’s match against Nepal and India. The Leicester City midfielder immediately declared his determination to beat India, expressing confidence that the national team can triumph at home in the National Stadium.
Hamza, along with Jamal Bhuiyan, had returned from India after a goalless draw in the first leg of the Asian Cup qualifying round. Now, he is determined to secure victory against the Indian side.
“I want to tell everyone one thing: if we stay positive, good results will follow. We didn’t win our last game, although we played well. But, God willing, we will win against India,” Hamza said.
Although neither team can progress to the main round of the Asian Cup, Hamza is keen to secure a win on 18 November for the country. The 28-year-old midfielder added: “I know this is a big game for us against India. We will win, for our country. Everyone is very excited for this match, and we are working hard to achieve victory. See you all at the stadium.”
Reflecting on his return to Dhaka, Hamza said, “Thank you for the incredible welcome. It feels great to be back in Dhaka. I hope the match against India will be fiercely competitive. But before that, we must also perform well against Nepal.”
Hamza’s journey back was slightly disrupted. Due to traffic congestion in England, he missed his scheduled flight for the BFF ticket. He later took another flight, at his own expense, five hours later, and landed in Dhaka at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5 pm, instead of the planned noon arrival.
