Just days after their Champions League defeat to Liverpool, Real Madrid suffered another setback in La Liga. Despite dominating possession and creating multiple chances, the Spanish giants were held to a frustrating 0–0 draw by Rayo Vallecano.
Real Madrid controlled much of the attacking play, but Vallecano’s solid defending and sharp counter-attacks kept them at bay. The hosts were particularly effective in neutralising Vinícius Júnior’s threat down the left flank, denying him space to create scoring opportunities.
Despite the draw, Real Madrid remain at the top of the La Liga table with 31 points from 12 matches — 10 wins, one defeat and one draw. Villarreal sit second with 26 points from the same number of games. Later tonight, third-placed Barcelona face Celta Vigo, and a win would see them overtake Villarreal to move into second place, closing the gap on Real.
Real Madrid’s next La Liga fixture is scheduled for 24 November, when they take on Elche.
