As the transfer window edges towards its conclusion, activity among Spain’s leading football clubs is intensifying. Several potentially significant deals remain unresolved, leaving Barcelona and Atlético Madrid facing a frantic race against time to make final decisions over their squads.
Barcelona’s immediate priorities reportedly include resolving the futures of Alejandro Balde and Marc Casadó. Casadó has attracted interest from several Bundesliga clubs, raising the possibility that Germany could become his next destination if Barcelona decide to sanction his departure.
Balde’s situation appears more complicated. Manchester United are reported to have explored the possibility of signing the Barcelona left-back on loan, but the Catalan club rejected the proposal. Barcelona are believed to value Balde at around €40 million, a figure that could prove decisive as the closing hours of the window approach. With little time remaining, uncertainty continues to surround whether the defender will remain at the club or become the subject of a late transfer.
Atlético Madrid could also experience significant movement before the deadline. Reports have linked Julián Álvarez with Arsenal in a potential €120 million deal, with additional performance-related bonuses also under discussion. However, neither club has officially confirmed or denied the reported agreement.
For now, Álvarez appears more likely to remain at the Metropolitano. Yet the final stages of a transfer window can often produce unexpected developments, and a permanent move or a loan arrangement containing an option to buy cannot be entirely ruled out if negotiations gather momentum.
Atlético are also reportedly close to reaching an agreement over the departure of José María Giménez, with Sevilla emerging as a possible destination for the experienced defender. Should the move be completed, it could prompt Atlético to reassess their defensive options before the window closes.
