A total of 43 players, selected from among the most promising women handballers in the country, have reported to the camp. These players will undergo rigorous physical conditioning, technical drills and tactical training under the supervision of national coaches and support staff. The camp aims to fine-tune team coordination, improve match fitness and enhance competitive readiness ahead of the international event.

Officials of the Bangladesh Handball Federation stated that special emphasis will be placed on discipline, teamwork and modern playing techniques during the training period. The coaching staff will also assess individual performances to finalise the squads for both the youth and junior categories.

The Bangabandhu IHF Trophy Women’s tournament will feature 16 teams, divided into youth and junior divisions, representing eight countries. Alongside hosts Bangladesh, the participating nations include Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Yemen. The competition is expected to provide a valuable platform for emerging female handball players to gain international exposure and competitive experience.

Handball officials believe the tournament will significantly contribute to the development of women’s handball in Bangladesh, while also strengthening regional sporting ties. Hosting such an event reflects the country’s growing role in promoting handball at the grassroots and youth levels, particularly among women athletes.

The National Handball Stadium in Dhaka is currently undergoing final preparations to ensure international standards are met for the tournament. Organisers have expressed confidence that the event will be conducted smoothly and successfully, with adequate facilities for teams, officials and spectators.

The Bangladesh women’s handball teams have shown steady progress in recent years, and expectations are high that the home teams will perform strongly on familiar ground. The upcoming tournament is seen as a crucial stepping stone for young players aspiring to represent the country at higher international levels in the future.
