Bangladesh’s national team and age-group cricketers are busy with domestic and international cricket. Although the national team’s series has ended, four-day first-class cricket is ongoing in the NCL. In a few days, Bangladesh, led by Akbar Ali, will travel to Hong Kong to play in a Six-Side tournament. Later this month, the Emerging Asia Cup for upcoming cricketers will take place, and Jawad Abrar has been called up for it.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh and Afghanistan Under-19 teams are also playing a One-Day series in Rajshahi. The Emerging Asia Cup, renamed this year as the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship, will start on November 12. In the tournament, Bangladesh ‘A’ will play in Group A alongside Sri Lanka ‘A’, Afghanistan ‘A’, and the Hong Kong national team. Group B will feature the India-Pakistan ‘A’ teams along with the UAE and Oman.
For Bangladesh, this Emerging players’ tournament usually includes cricketers outside the national team or those performing well in the pipeline. Jawad Abrar, an attacking opener, has been included in the squad, confirmed a source from BCB. However, he has not been in form with the bat in the last two series. This year, the team is planned as a mix of experienced and new players. The official squad has not yet been announced.
The Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship will be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 12 to 25. This edition will feature 8 teams. Since 2024, ‘A’ teams have been participating in the Emerging Asia Cup. This List-A recognized tournament has now been renamed as Rising Stars.
