Veteran Rohit Sharma becomes No.1 ODI batter for the first time

India’s right-handed star, Rohit Sharma, has made history by reaching the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings for the very first time. The 38-year-old achieved this milestone following his masterful unbeaten century in the third and final ODI against Australia in Sydney, where he guided India to a commanding nine-wicket victory.

Sharma, alongside fellow stalwart Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 74, dominated the Australian attack. Rohit struck 13 fours and three towering sixes to secure his 33rd ODI century, a performance that propelled him past Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and India teammate Shubman Gill in the rankings. The veteran has consistently remained within the top 10 for most of the last decade, but this is his first time claiming the pinnacle of the ODI batting charts.
