Arsenal have reportedly made no contact with Erling Haaland or his representatives despite growing speculation linking the Manchester City forward with a move away from the club.
Haaland’s future has become a subject of renewed discussion amid the uncertainty surrounding Manchester City following the club’s case involving 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules. Although City were found to have committed breaches in the case referred to in recent reports, the final sporting consequences have not yet been determined. That uncertainty has fuelled speculation about several of the club’s high-profile players, with Haaland inevitably attracting much of the attention.
Reports have suggested that Arsenal and other leading European clubs could be interested in the Norway international. However, the latest information indicates that there has been no approach from Arsenal regarding a potential transfer.
According to a report by TeamTalk, Arsenal have not held discussions over Haaland. Representatives of the 26-year-old striker have also indicated that they have not been contacted by the north London club. That makes the claims of an active approach considerably different from the current situation, with no confirmed negotiations taking place between the two sides.
Arsenal are nevertheless understood to be looking at the possibility of adding another forward in the longer term. Their interest in strengthening the attack is not solely linked to Haaland. The club attempted to pursue Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez during the previous summer transfer window but did not secure either player.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also indicated that Arsenal remain interested in adding another attacking option as part of their longer-term planning. That search could involve a number of potential targets rather than being focused exclusively on Haaland.
For Haaland, meanwhile, his contractual position at Manchester City remains a major factor. The Norwegian forward signed a new long-term agreement with City in January 2025, keeping him tied to the club until 2034. The length of that contract means any potential move would require significant negotiations, unless circumstances surrounding the agreement or the club change substantially.
Reports have also stated that Haaland’s contract does not contain a relegation- or punishment-related release clause that would automatically allow him to leave if City were to suffer a severe sporting sanction or drop out of the Premier League. As a result, speculation surrounding possible sanctions against City does not, by itself, establish a straightforward route for Haaland to depart.
The financial case involving City remains unresolved in terms of its eventual punishment. The club has indicated that it will appeal the relevant findings, meaning the process is not yet at a stage where the consequences for Manchester City can be treated as settled.
Until the legal and disciplinary process reaches a definitive outcome, suggestions about the future of Haaland and other City players are likely to remain speculative. At present, there is no confirmed evidence that Arsenal have opened talks with Haaland or his representatives, while his existing long-term contract continues to link him firmly with Manchester City.
