Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has married his long-time partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez, bringing their nearly decade-long relationship into a new chapter.
The couple tied the knot on Tuesday in a private and intimate ceremony in Cascais, a coastal city in Portugal. According to Agence France-Presse, the wedding was deliberately kept low-key, with the couple’s five children present for the occasion.
Ronaldo personally confirmed the marriage on social media. He shared a photograph of the couple’s hands, clearly showing wedding rings on both. Alongside the image, he posted a short caption reading, ‘C ❤️ G’, marking the occasion with a simple public declaration.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez began their relationship in 2016, when Rodríguez was working at a Gucci store in Madrid. At the time, Ronaldo was playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid, where he had established himself as one of the world’s leading footballers.
Rodríguez has previously described their first meeting as a case of love at first sight. In an interview with Vogue Arabia in 2025, she recalled feeling an immediate sense of calm and an unusual familiarity after meeting Ronaldo. Their relationship subsequently developed into a long-term partnership centred around family life and their children.
The couple announced their engagement on 11 August last year. Rodríguez shared a photograph of a large engagement ring on social media and confirmed that she had accepted Ronaldo’s proposal. Her message suggested that she viewed their relationship as one intended to last throughout their lives.
The wedding now formally seals a partnership that has continued for almost 10 years. The presence of their five children added a strong family dimension to the private ceremony, which was held away from the scale and publicity normally associated with one of the most recognisable figures in world sport.
At 41, Ronaldo remains one of the most decorated players in football history. His professional career has taken him from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, before his move to Saudi Arabia, where he currently plays for Al-Nassr.
The Portugal captain has won the Ballon d’Or five times and has scored 976 goals across his senior career, placing him within sight of the 1,000-goal milestone. His longevity at the highest level has made him one of the defining players of his generation.
Ronaldo also represented Portugal at the 2026 Fifa World Cup. His appearance meant he became the first male footballer to feature at six editions of the World Cup, matching the record for six tournament appearances held by Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
Rodríguez has built a substantial public profile of her own. Alongside her work as a model and influencer, she became widely known through the Netflix series I Am Georgina, which follows aspects of her personal and family life. Together, Ronaldo and Rodríguez have a combined social-media following of more than 750 million.
The couple have also developed business interests beyond football and entertainment, including ventures connected with fashion and hotels. Their public lives have therefore extended well beyond Ronaldo’s career on the pitch.
After years of living together, raising their children and sharing a highly visible life in the public eye, Ronaldo and Rodríguez have now formally become husband and wife. Their decision to celebrate the occasion in a private setting, surrounded by their children, kept the focus firmly on family rather than spectacle.
