Mohammedan Return to Winning Ways

Mohammedan Sporting Club have returned to winning form in the Bangladesh Football League with a 2–0 victory over Arambagh Krira Sangha. The match was played at the Manikganj venue, where the Dhaka-based side secured all three points to climb from sixth to fifth position in the league standings, overtaking Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society.

The contest remained goalless in the first half, with both sides maintaining structured defensive organisation and limiting clear scoring opportunities. The deadlock was broken in the 52nd minute when Saurav Dewan found the net. He finished from inside the penalty area with a composed, low effort that placed Mohammedan ahead 1–0.

Following the opening goal, Mohammedan increased their attacking intensity and maintained greater control in midfield. Their sustained pressure eventually produced a second goal in the 75th minute. Substitute Rahim Uddin extended the lead, effectively securing the result. His goal confirmed a 2–0 advantage and left Arambagh Krira Sangha unable to respond in the remaining stages of the match.

The result marks an important recovery for Mohammedan Sporting Club following a difficult period earlier in the month. On 10 April, after a defeat in the 12th round against Abahani Limited Dhaka, the club dismissed head coach Alfaz Ahmed. Subsequently, assistant coach Abdul Kaiyum Sentu was appointed as interim head coach.

Since taking charge, Sentu has overseen four matches, in which Mohammedan have recorded three victories. Prior to this win over Arambagh, the team registered wins against Fakirerpul and PWD, while suffering a defeat against Bashundhara Kings in the previous round. The latest result therefore represents a return to winning form after that setback.

The current points situation reflects Mohammedan’s gradual improvement under the interim coaching structure. After 16 league matches, the club now has 20 points and has moved up the table to fifth position. Rahmatganj, who were previously placed fifth, dropped to sixth after suffering a 3–1 defeat against Brothers Union in another fixture held in Munshiganj on the same day.
