Ahead of the third and final Twenty20 International against Ireland, Bangladesh’s pace bowling coach Shaun Tait has delivered a clear and straightforward message to his players. Speaking on Monday at the Bir Shreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chittagong, Tait emphasised that overthinking is unnecessary and that sticking to their natural game will be key to securing victory.
“There’s no need to complicate things,” Tait said. “We simply need to play good cricket and focus on winning. Every victory in international cricket builds confidence, and that’s what we want to carry forward into this crucial match.”
This encounter marks the last bilateral T20 series for Bangladesh before the ICC T20 World Cup. A win would not only secure the series but also allow the team to finish the year on a positive note ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season and the global tournament. “The best approach is to play well,” Tait added. “We gained confidence from our previous win, and we want to carry that momentum forward. A victory would be the perfect gift as we head into the break.”
On assessing Ireland’s performance in the first two matches, Tait was candid. “Ireland have played well. They have some outstanding cricketers and are very organised in the T20 format,” he said.
Despite recognising the challenge, Bangladesh are ready to rise to the occasion. “We welcome big challenges,” Tait said. “The T20 World Cup is the next big stage, and there is nothing bigger in T20 cricket. These matches help us prepare mentally and strategically for what lies ahead.”
The final T20 promises a high-pressure encounter, with Bangladesh determined to seize the initiative and build confidence for the bigger international events on the horizon.
