The record-breaking moment arrived in dramatic fashion. Having already drawn level with Shakib on 246 wickets in the first innings, Taijul wasted little time in overtaking the all-time great. In the sixth over of Ireland’s second innings, he trapped Andy Balbirnie lbw with a delivery that straightened sharply, leaving the Irish captain with no option but to walk back after a failed review. The milestone was official—Taijul had ascended to the top of Bangladesh’s Test bowling charts.
Not stopping there, Taijul removed Paul Stirling soon after, taking his tally to 248 wickets in only 57 matches and 102 innings, highlighting his efficiency compared to his predecessors.
