The Bangladesh Navy and Ansar jointly won the President’s Cup Fencing

The ninth edition of the President’s Cup Fencing Championship concluded on Monday at the Shaheed Captain M. Monsur Ali Handball Stadium in Paltan, Dhaka, with Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Ansar being declared joint champions. Both teams amassed an identical medal tally, each securing six gold, five silver, and six bronze medals throughout the competition.

Bangladesh Army finished as the runners-up, earning one gold, one silver, and eight bronze medals. The tournament showcased fierce competition across individual and team events in foil, épée, and sabre categories for both men and women.

The award ceremony was graced by Selim Fakir, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who handed over the medals to the winners. Also in attendance were Daulatuzzaman Khan, Executive Director of the National Sports Council; Sheikh Rahi Mohammad Asif, Director of Akij Bashir Group; Major (Retd.) Kamrul Islam, President of Bangladesh Fencing Federation; and General Secretary Basunia M. Ashikul Islam.

The tournament once again underscored the growing standards of fencing in Bangladesh, highlighting exceptional individual talent and team coordination across the armed and uniformed forces.
