Bulbul Declares ‘Zero Tolerance’ Over Jahanara Allegations

Former captain of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team, Jahanara Alam, has accused former team official Manjurul Islam of sexual harassment. Manjurul, who is currently serving as a cricket development officer in China, is alleged to have behaved in a disrespectful and inappropriate manner towards female cricketers in the past.

Although the incident occurred some years ago, a formal complaint was submitted to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) at the time. The BCB President has stated that the matter was “likely resolved” in 2021. However, with the issue resurfacing recently, the board has swiftly formed a three-member investigation committee to review the case.

BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul told a press conference, “Our policy on any form of sexual harassment or indecent behaviour is clear — zero tolerance.” He added that the board hopes the investigation will identify the guilty parties and ensure they face appropriate disciplinary action.
