Arrow McLaren has unveiled one of the most formidable driver line-ups in recent IndyCar history, confirming that six-time series champion Scott Dixon and reigning Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist will join the team on multi-year contracts from the 2027 season.
The pair will line up alongside long-serving star Pato O’Ward, while newly appointed Sporting Director Ryan Hunter-Reay will return to competitive action for the 111th Running of the Indianapolis 500, driving a fourth Arrow McLaren entry in May 2027.
The announcement signals Arrow McLaren’s intent to establish itself as the benchmark organisation in IndyCar, assembling an extraordinary combination of championship-winning pedigree, Indianapolis 500 success and decades of elite-level experience.

Building a championship-calibre squad
Team Principal Tony Kanaan acknowledged that reshaping the driver roster was a difficult process but insisted the opportunity to recruit competitors of Dixon’s and Rosenqvist’s calibre could not be ignored.
“It’s never an easy decision, but when you have the opportunity to bring drivers of this calibre into your team, you take it seriously,” Kanaan said.
He believes the new line-up gives Arrow McLaren its strongest opportunity yet to challenge consistently for both the championship and the Indianapolis 500.
“Scott’s accomplishments speak for themselves, Felix is this year’s 500 winner and consistently fast and competitive, and Ryan has the experience and capability to win the 500 again, without a doubt.”
“Add that talent to what we have with Pato, who’s knocking on the door of his own Indy 500 victory, and we’re the threat we’ve been building towards in both the championship and the 500.”
Kanaan also paid tribute to outgoing drivers Christian Lundgaard and Nolan Siegel, praising their contribution to the team’s recent growth.
“We’ll keep our focus on Christian and Pato’s championship fight and Nolan’s work towards top-10 finishes for the remainder of the season.”
“Christian and Nolan have been outstanding teammates, and they’ve given a great deal to help us build this team over the past two years.”
A step towards the Triple Crown
The strengthened line-up also reinforces McLaren Racing’s wider ambitions across global motorsport.
With three Indianapolis 500 winners now part of the organisation, McLaren believes its IndyCar programme is becoming a vital component in the company’s pursuit of the Triple Crown of Motorsport—victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500.
McLaren Racing Chief Executive Zak Brown described the announcement as another milestone in the team’s long-term strategy.
“Our IndyCar team has shown fantastic momentum, and this line-up of Pato, Scott, Felix and Ryan will strengthen every aspect of our programme,” Brown said.
“We’ve got our eyes firmly set on the championship as well as winning the Indianapolis 500 to secure the Triple Crown in the Papaya era.”
Brown believes the experience and chemistry within the group will benefit the entire organisation.
“These four drivers bring a wealth of experience as well as great chemistry and will no doubt have a positive impact across our entire team.”
He also thanked Lundgaard and Siegel for helping establish the foundations upon which the programme has been built.
Dixon begins a new chapter
The arrival of Scott Dixon represents one of the most significant driver transfers in modern IndyCar history.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest drivers ever to compete in American open-wheel racing, the New Zealander boasts six IndyCar championships, a victory in the 2008 Indianapolis 500 and 59 race wins—second only on the all-time victory list.
Among his numerous records are the most career starts in IndyCar history and race victories across an astonishing 23 consecutive seasons.
Away from IndyCar, Dixon is a three-time overall winner of the Rolex 24 at Daytona and was inducted into both the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Hall of Fame.
Despite his remarkable résumé, Dixon said joining Arrow McLaren represents an exciting fresh challenge.
“Joining Arrow McLaren in 2027 is an exciting next step in my career,” Dixon said.
“It was a big decision for myself and my family, and I’m looking forward to contributing to what Zak, Tony and the team are building.”
“As a New Zealander, being part of Bruce McLaren’s legacy is especially meaningful. His spirit and determination remain at the heart of this team, and I’m excited to carry that forward.”
Rosenqvist returns home
Felix Rosenqvist’s return marks a reunion with a team he previously represented between 2021 and 2023.
The Swede arrives with renewed confidence after securing the 2026 Indianapolis 500, delivering one of the most memorable victories in recent history.
He also brings two IndyCar race victories, seven pole positions and the 2019 Rookie of the Year title.
“I’m excited to return to Arrow McLaren next season and reunite with Pato, Tony, Zak and so many of the engineers and crew members I worked with previously,” Rosenqvist said.
“There are plenty of familiar faces, and with Scott joining and Ryan returning for the Indy 500, I think our collective experience will be a huge advantage.”
He added that his immediate priority remains finishing the current season strongly before attention turns to 2027.
Hunter-Reay targets another Indy triumph
Ryan Hunter-Reay will combine his full-time responsibilities as Arrow McLaren’s Sporting Director with a one-off return behind the wheel at Indianapolis.
The 2012 IndyCar champion and 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner believes both he and the team still have unfinished business at the Speedway.
“I have unfinished business with the Indy 500, and so does this team,” Hunter-Reay said.
“Our focus is on Indianapolis—learning from the past, preparing thoroughly and doing everything possible to win the race.”
“We have plenty of time to prepare properly, and racing alongside Pato, Scott and Felix gives us an incredibly experienced group.”
Hunter-Reay also emphasised that his management role will help accelerate Arrow McLaren’s long-term ambitions.
“In the meantime, working with the team full-time as Sporting Director gives me a unique opportunity to influence our development plans for 2027, the Indianapolis 500 and beyond.”
