DHAKA, 14 March 2025 (BSS) – Four additional matches of the BRAC Bank Development Cup Women’s Hockey Tournament took place on Friday at two separate venues in the capital.
In the opening match of the day, Jhenaidah district dominated Rangpur district with an emphatic 8-0 victory. The second fixture saw Thakurgaon district deliver a crushing 18-0 defeat to Cumilla district in a one-sided encounter at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
Meanwhile, at the Bangladesh Air Force Hockey Ground in Kurmitola, Rajshahi district secured a 3-0 win over Dinajpur district in the third match of the day. The final match at the same venue witnessed Jashore district overpower Patuakhali district with an 11-1 triumph.
The tournament, organised by the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF), features a total of 11 teams, comprising 10 district teams and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP). The teams have been divided into two groups for the competition.
Participating Teams:
Group A: Dinajpur district, Jashore district, Chattogram district, Patuakhali district, and Rajshahi district.
Group B: BKSP, Jhenaidah district, Thakurgaon district, Rangpur district, Cumilla district, and Kishoreganj district.
This tournament aims to promote women’s hockey across Bangladesh, providing young athletes with a platform to showcase their talent and gain competitive experience. The event is also expected to contribute to the overall development of hockey in the country, fostering greater participation and interest in the sport.
